Being a young artist, I am still developing my own style. I am inspired, like any artist, through my experiences and location. Southern California is a constantly changing and evolving place, so it is fitting that I am ever-changing and evolving as well. I have been inspired by two strong aspects of my life, school and volleyball. My classes have inspired me by teaching about the art movements through America and the industrial age. This time period inspired my more steampunk work, using the muted colors of metal and wood. I also have been inspired by vintage Southern California surf culture through researching the golden age of volleyball in Manhattan Beach. Volleyball has been a big part of my life for the past eight years, and I have met a lot of the people a part of this age of volleyball. Bright colors and cartoon images were depicted everywhere up and down the California coast inspiring surfboard designs and beach murals. I have been lucky enough to have my dad's board from the 80s that has these elements in full effect. I plan to explore these themes further, discovering new styles and techniques to make the art I am inspired by.
